Woman enjoys with her eyes closed

The seasons influence our doshas and play an essential role in Ayurveda. With the turn of the year from summer to autumn is the transition from Pitta time to Vata time. Therefore, we have a few Ayurveda tips for you!

Especially now, the right nutrition plays a crucial role for our health, fitness and immune system.

But what does that mean for us? Here are a few Ayurvedic tips on how you can keep fit in autumn:

Avoid raw food

Raw food is very difficult to digest, especially for people with an excess of Vata. In general, it takes longer for raw food to be digested. With an optimally functioning digestive system, this is not a problem. Unfortunately, however, we usually have a slightly disturbed digestive fire, which then leads to the fact that the food can no longer be metabolised well and accumulates in the body as "Ama", so-called waste products. In excess, ama leads to major disorders, which must be avoided at all costs.

Tip: Instead of a fresh salad, eat lightly roasted vegetables with couscous or a warm salad of cooked vegetables. In this form, the vegetables are easy to metabolise and an energy kick for the day.

Use digestive spices

Digestive spices strengthen the digestive fire and warm up the system. Spices such as turmeric, cumin, anise & fennel, fenugreek, ajwain or the European Ayurveda® "Agni" spice are perfect for this.

Cook with ghee

Ghee or clarified butter plays an important role in Ayurvedic teachings. Ghee has an immune system-strengthening and detoxifying, purifying effect. It is also said to have a positive effect on the performance of the brain. You can easily make ghee yourself or buy a high-quality ghee.

Eat amla mousse

Ayurvedic amla puree, also called Chyawanprash called, is made from Amla fruit and refined with spices, herbs and Sharkara, the highest quality Ayurvedic sugar. This tonic is a vitamin C booster. It has a rejuvenating, cell renewing effect and revitalises the overall metabolism.

Warm, boiled water plays an important role in detoxification.

Tip: Take 1-2 teaspoons of amla pulp daily in the morning. You can add it to your porridge or spread it on your toasted bread and start the day with an energy kick.

Perform a cleansing ritual

Autumn is the best time to do a detox. You can do this in the form of a Pancha karma cure or Detox cure do.

If you don't have time for a cure, you can also plan a few fasting days at home.

Tip: For your fasting days, it is recommended to drink warm boiled water. It is best to reduce meals to twice a day and eat only soups or vegetables. If possible, leave out carbohydrates on these days or reduce them to a small portion of healthy carbohydrates at noon. You can find detailed instructions for an Ayurvedic fasting cure at home here.

Start the autumn strengthened with these Ayurveda tips and enjoy this wonderful time of transformation.
