After a wonderful summer, we are slowly getting back into the daily routine. The vacations are over and the workday follows its usual rhythm. Appointments, meetings, new projects and colleagues - that can be exhausting. In addition, in autumn the Dosha Vata really gets going again. The bioenergy of change and movement initiates all processes for the winter months. And when stress meets highly active Vata, exhaustion, restlessness and inner restlessness can be the result. In European Ayurveda®, we believe that balanced bioenergies strengthen our health and immune system, and that even stress can take its toll on us. We have a few tips and meditation techniques for you, with which you can cope with your daily job routine in a more relaxed way.
Routine at work
Do you sometimes feel like you don't know where to start because of all the tasks you have to do? Do you come into the office and feel overwhelmed already at the beginning of the day? A small tip that can change a lot is called: Routine!
Routines in European Ayurveda® are there to reduce stress and to give a certain structure to everyday life. People need regularities, because that gives security and orientation. And of course this is also true in the workplace. In everyday life at work you will get through stressful phases better.
Give every morning a certain sequence:
Arrive at your workplace. First take off your jacket, greet your colleagues briefly and perhaps treat yourself to a cup of tea in the morning. This way you can gather strength for the day. Then go to your workplace and prepare it for your job.
Make to-do lists:
If you have a hard time finding a start in your tasks, just create a to-do list. Arrange the items according to the priority with which they need to be completed. If you are unsure about some tasks, it is best to ask the team. Often, conversations will reveal what still needs to be done.
Keep order:
There is the type of person who can work just fine with a certain amount of chaos. But the mess at your desk can quickly get stuck in your mind. Try to keep your workplace as tidy as possible. Separate yourself from documents you no longer need - it's like detox for the office. You will immediately feel better with a tidy desk. At the same time, you will get rid of mental ballast that only hinders your success.
Take enough lunch breaks
Breaks are important! Body, mind and soul need time out to recharge their batteries. The best thing you can do for your body is to take a short walk in nature. If that's not possible, find a park nearby or a quiet part of town. Exercise is good for your circulation, lowers stress, and helps you wind down. It's best to leave your smartphone at work. Because your break belongs only to you.
In European Ayurveda®, we recommend eating a solid meal three times a day, depending on your constitution type, and to avoid snacks in between. Accordingly, you should also treat yourself to a delicious meal during your lunch break. It is best to cook it yourself. You can find suitable recipes in our cookbook in the store.
You should eat your lunch in peace and without distractions. Instead of devouring the meal in front of the PC, you should devote your attention entirely to yourself before continuing again.
Meditations for the office
Meditations are an excellent way to calm down between phone calls, meetings and tasks. They don't have to take long. Meditation helps you balance your bioenergies, lower stress and strengthen resilience. Here we have two exercises for you:
Breathing exercise for in between
Sit upright on your chair. Your feet touch the floor evenly. Your back is straight and not leaning against the backrest. Hold one hand on your belly below the navel. You can place the other hand relaxed on your lap.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Feel with your hand how your belly slowly rises. Imagine how pure energy enters your body with the breath. Breathe out and feel how your belly slowly lowers again. With each exhalation, stress and hectic leave your body. Now concentrate on the place where your hand touches your belly. This is the solar plexus. Breathe consciously into this area and slowly out again. With each breath you will feel your pulse decrease and your thoughts become calmer. Repeat this exercise as often as you like.
Walking mindful paths
In the office, you cover more ground than you think. From your desk to the copier, over to the coffee kitchen, to the restroom or the meeting room in between. Try to walk these paths consciously. Pay attention to your steps. Walk more slowly, feel how your feet roll on the floor. This awareness of your steps creates distance from your work and helps you to stay with yourself. This strengthens your inner peace.
